surgery (1990). Since 1996 Senior Registrar in Obstetrics and Gynecology,
Private Hospital “Sanatrix”, Naples, Italy, consultant in Gynecology
ad Head of the Centre for the Diagnosis and Treatment of the Dysfunctions of
the Pelvic Floor – Hospital “S. Maria La Pietà”, Casoria (Naples, Italy). Head
of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Private Hospital “Santa Lucia”,
San Giuseppe Vesuviano (Naples), Italy. Regional Secretary of the Italian Association of Urogynecology (AGUI) (2008). Involved in the organization of national and
international meetings, seminars and symposia as coordinator and/or tutor.
Active tutor on a national and international
basis in the diagnosis and management of pelvic floor dysfunctions. Main
interest: urogynecology, with particular experience in the pathophysiology of
genital prolapse and female incontinence, with studies on pelvic floor anatomy
and function and on the use of novel prosthetic materials. Dr D’Afiero has
proposed new conservative procedures for the treamtent of genital prolapse
using synthetic slings.
