CURRICULUM VITAE

In 1986 he became a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology and completed his Master of Science (M Sc) from University of Zagreb in 1991 with the thesis entitled “Micturition disturbances and urodynamic changes after radical hysterectomy”. In 1998 he received his Doctor of Science (PhD) degree at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana. His doctoral thesis, was “The role of ultrasound in diagnosing and treating female stress urinary incontinence”.

 

Currently, he is the  director of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, University Medical Centre Ljubljana, Slovenia and Assistant Professor of gynecology and obstetrics at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Ljubljana. His primary interests are the problems of operative gynecology and urogynecology.

 

His research work is dedicated to the study of new surgical methods in gynecology: introducing minimally invasive surgical approaches, urological complications following radical gynecologic surgery and new modalities in the treatment of female urinary incontinence. His main field of research is evaluating and introducing new diagnostic measuring techniques and new conservative surgical methods in the treatment of female urinary incontinence for clinical practice.

 

He lectures nationally and internationally. His extensive work in clinical practice lead him to change the diagnostic policy and therapeutic management of female stress urinary incontinence in Slovenia.   He is the president of the Slovenian Association of Gynecologist and Obstetricians, president of the Slovene Urogynecological Society and president of the Slovenian Incontinence Association. He is a member of Slovenian Medical Association, ICS, IUGA, EAGO, ESGO, FIGO. In 1991 he became a founding member of International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2004 he became the European  International Board Mmember  of IUGA.
