CV Raffaele De Caro

 

Born in Napoli, 18-7-1953. Medical degree cum laude on 1980 in Padova. Specialisation cum
laude in Pathology (Padova, 1984) and Legal Medicine (Padova, 1987). At the Medical School
of the University of Padova Assistant Professor in Human Anatomy from 1981, Associate
Professor from 1992 and Full professor from 2000. Director of the Department of Human
Anatomy and Physiology from 2004. President of the School of Medicine of Padova since 2007.
Visiting scientist at University of Sheffield in 1988, University of Heidelberg (Germany) in 1990
for Plastination of human cadaver, at the "International School of Neuroscience", (Prof. E.
Costa, G.M. Edelman e R. Levi Montalcini) in 1990, Italy. He personally made 3000 cadaver
dissections for research and teaching. Scientific activity devoted to embryogenesis of cerebral
vessels, the nuclei of the human medulla involved in the continuous monitoring and autonomic
regulation of respiratory and cardiovascular functions, anatomy and topography of the
retroperitoneal fibroadipose tissue of the human pelvis, ileal neobladder mucosa, anatomy of
the hepatic vessels and segmentation of the human liver, Gross Anatomy, (nervous,
cardiovascular, alimentary, urinary and reproductive systems), Clinical anatomy of superficial
and deep fascias. Member of Italian Association of anatomy and histology, European
association of Clinical Anatomists, British Association of Clinical anatomists, American
Association of Clinical anatomists, Coordinator of research projects supported by the italian
university ministery (MIUR) from 1987. Author of 95 in extenso papers. Associate edithor of
and Surg. Radiol. Anat., member of the editorial board of Clin. Anat. and reviewer for J Anat,
Anat Record.
