TFS INTEGRAL THEORY WORKSHOP

 

Minimally invasive vaginal and incontinence surgery according to the Integral Theory- “hands on” practical interactive workshop

The structure of this workshop is entirely informal. Attendees will be encouraged to present their experiences and questions.

 

 

The Integral  Theory states that prolapse and urinary and faecal dysfunction are mainly caused by connective tissue laxity in the vagina or its supporting ligaments.

 

Dynamic Anatomy - function and dysfunction -  Peter Petros

A brief anatomy of the pelvic floor, and the role of connective tissue structures in the causation of prolapse, urinary and anorectal dysfunction.

 

The history, histology and application of tapes to vaginal and incontinence surgery

How the use of tapes evolved from the 1950s to today. How the tapes are applied to reinforce damaged connective tissue structures-  Peter Petros.

 

Diagnosis- A practical approach to patient assessment and diagnosis of specific anatomical defects- Ian Hocking

Dr Hocking will outline his method for assessment of damaged connective tissue. Actual patient records will be used. The significance  of each part of the assessment process will be presented. Questionnaire, 24  hour diary, pad testing, urodynamics, dynamic cystourethroscopy, vaginal examination.
