SACRAL NEUROMODULATION WORKSHOP

Chairman: Dr Graeme Langsford

Medtronic is running a patient programming workshop for healthcare professionals involved in Sacral Nerve Stimulation. This workshop provides participants with the knowledge, tools and skills necessary to effectively program and manage patients receiving Interstim® Therapy.

The hands-on workshop will be coordinated by Medtronic

0830 - 1000  SYMPOSIUM  LAGUNA 2

VAGINAL SACROCOLPOPEXY WORKSHOP

Chairman: Dr Richard Reid

Sacrocolpopexy has been the gold standard for apical segment prolapse repair over the last 50 years. Initially this operation was done by exposing the vaginal vault from above and sewing it directly to the periosteum at the level of S3. Several catastrophic haemorrhages from sacral plexus veins forced a change in strategy where the vaginal vault was suspended from the sacral promontory using a mesh ribbon.

However, it is possible to fully expose the hollow of the sacrum from below thus allowing safe sacrocolpopexy without the danger of sacral plexus venous haemorrhage. The transvaginal approach is quicker and simpler than the trans abdominal approach and orients the vagina in the correct pelvic axis.
