Hesperia Hospital, Modena
Training Workshops in Advanced Reconstructive
Pelvic Surgery
Introduction
Dr Bruce Farnsworth and Dr Daniele Grassi have been conducting Pelvic Surgery Workshops at Hesperia Hospital, Modena since 2001. The advances in surgical technique over the last eight years have led to the development of specialised prostheses that are now available to experienced pelvic surgeons who undergo specialised training.
These workshops have been designed to introduce advanced pelvic surgeons to the third generation prostheses developed by Agency for Medical Innovation (Feldkirk, Austria) based on the concepts of the Integral Theory and the results of over 10 years practical experience of surgery with prostheses.
The AMI Advanced Pelvic Floor Repair system is used to repair defects in pelvic support. A number of specialised prostheses have been developed to target specific focal defects in the Pelvic Floor. These training sessions aim to introduce advanced surgeons to the new prostheses.
